Who gets the home after divorce?

Sometimes selling the marital home seems like the only option, even if you know if you could afford the payments on your own after a divorce doesn’t mean that the house must be sold. As part of the divorce settlement, there may be instances where the one party is awarded retirement funds and the other party is able to stay in the home. There may be times where the parties agree that the children need to stay in their home for a certain amount of years and then the parties will sell the home. Often times there are solutions that can be found and the marital home doesn’t have to be sold.
